Age check

Compare the date of birth on the document with the age window of your service.

What it does

Some services admit users only above a threshold, or only within a range. The age check reads the date of birth from the identity document and compares it with the age window that your scenario sets. The check relies on the document, not on how old the person looks.

Set the window

The age window is configurable from 16 to 100. You set it in the scenario editor, next to the documents and countries you accept. Different scenarios can carry different windows, so one product can use more than one.

How it works in the flow

  1. The user photographs the identity document in the widget.
  2. The document is read, and the date of birth is extracted. See document OCR.
  3. The date of birth is compared with the age window.
  4. The result is added to the session.

Pair it with the face

The age check reads the age recorded on the document. To tie the document to the person in front of the camera, add face verification, which matches the selfie to the document portrait, and liveness.

What your system receives

A session status and the results of each step. See session statuses.
