Working with faces in the dashboard

Sources are the channels through which the platform receives images: cameras, photo files, archived videos. Sources are grouped. Face comparison works against them, and found and new faces go to the person lists. The same objects are available through the REST API.

Source groups

Groups are listed in the groups column. The account has a default group.

1. Click + and choose to add a group.
2. Enter the name and click Create group.

The menu of a group offers: edit the group (rename it), delete the group (the default group cannot be deleted), copy the group identifier, and add a source to the group.

Adding a source

Click Add source. The form has three blocks.

Main

• The name of the source.
• Which additional face attributes to check in images from this source.

Search in persons list

Choose which person lists to search for faces from the source. The + button adds a list. For each list you set:

• the person list,
• whether to raise an alert when a face is found in the list,
• whether to raise an alert when a face is not found.

New person creation

Automatic creation of persons from faces in the source:

• Auto create on sets when to create a person: never, on no match, or when the match is below a chosen level.
• The minimum face size in pixels.
• The maximum head rotation, horizontally and vertically.
• The person list to add the new persons to.

While "never" is selected, the other fields of the block are hidden. Click Create source. To change a source later, open its settings.

The source tile

A source tile shows its name, the letters of the enabled checks and a badge if automatic person creation is on. The default source is marked with a lock. Source actions:

• Settings opens the settings.
• Copy id copies the identifier of the source.
• Delete source deletes it after a confirmation. The default source cannot be deleted.

Bulk settings

When a group has sources, the bulk management button becomes available. It opens the same settings form for several sources at once.
