What it does
A face in a selfie can be real, or it can be made. Deepfake and face-swap detection looks for both kinds of fakes: faces generated by GAN or diffusion models, and faces that were swapped onto another person. It runs inside the selfie and liveness steps of a KYC session.
What it detects
- Generated faces. Faces produced by GAN or diffusion models.
- Swapped faces. A real person's face replaced by another face.
How it works in the flow
- The user takes a selfie and follows the liveness step in the widget.
- Deepfake and face-swap detection runs on the same images.
- The result is added to the session with the selfie and liveness results.

What does deepfake detection look for?
