Document authenticity
Document anti-fraud that looks for copies, edits and forgeries on every document image.
What it does
A document that looks right can still be a copy or an edit. The anti-fraud module examines the document images in the session and runs 20+ checks on them. It is included in every package, and it runs on the same images as the document OCR.
What the checks look for
| Check | What it looks for |
|---|---|
| Screen photos | The document was photographed from a screen, not held in front of the camera. |
| Photocopies | The image shows a copy of the document, not the original. |
| Printouts | The image shows a printed picture of the document. |
| Glued photos | The portrait on the document was replaced by another photo stuck on top. |
| Drawn-on elements | Marks or details were added to the document by hand or in an editor. |
| Erasures | Parts of the document were removed. |
| Edited images | The image was changed after it was taken. |
| Logical data errors | The values on the document contradict each other. |
How it works in the flow
- The user photographs the document in the widget.
- The document is read by the OCR.
- The anti-fraud checks run on the same images.
- The outcome is added to the session as part of the document step.
What your system receives
A document entry in the session results, with the status of the step. Read it through the status call or receive the webhook. See session statuses.
Where it sits in a scenario
Anti-fraud belongs to the document step, so it runs wherever your scenario asks for a document. The scenario editor sets the documents and countries. For flows that combine document checks with faces and lists, read the fraud prevention use case.

Questions, answered plainly
Is anti-fraud an extra module?
No. Document anti-fraud is included in every package, next to document recognition.
What does it catch?
Screen photos, photocopies, printouts, glued photos, drawn-on elements, erasures, edited images and logical data errors. There are 20+ checks.
What happens when a check fails?
The result is added to the session, and your system reads it with the other results. Cases you want a person to look at can go to a manual decision in the dashboard.
Does anti-fraud also cover the selfie?
No, this module works on the document. Faces are covered by face verification, liveness and deepfake detection.
