The job

A marketplace is only as trusted as its sellers. Fake or repeat sellers cost buyers money and cost the marketplace its reputation. The check should confirm that the seller is a real person with a real document, and that this person is not already on the platform under another name.

The flow

Document. The seller photographs an identity document. It is read and checked for fraud. See document verification.
Face match. The selfie is matched to the document portrait. See face verification.
Repeat sellers. The face is searched among earlier verified faces, and a returning face is flagged for your rules or a reviewer. See face search.
Listed people. The face is checked against your blocklist, and a match is flagged for your rules or a reviewer.
Address, when you need it. Add a utility bill, bank statement or lease as an extra document. See proof of address.
Decision. Your system lets the seller list, or sends the case to a reviewer.

Can I ask sellers for proof of address?

Yes. A utility bill, bank statement or lease can be added as an extra document in the same session.

Does the platform decide who may sell?

The platform returns results. Your rules, or a reviewer's manual decision in the dashboard, decide who may sell.
