AML screening
AML questions and answers
Answers to the questions that come up most.
Answers are short on purpose. The full descriptions are on the pages linked in each answer.
What does skipped mean?
The check did not run because input data was missing or unusable. An empty result then means not checked, not clean. A skipped check is not billed. Supply the missing data, named in missingInputs, and run the check again. See retrieving the result.
Why does a check that never ran show status success?
That is how the source reports a skip: status is success and passed is null. Read outcome first.
Does a failed AML check change the session status?
The verdicts of database checks are not part of the body of a session. Read each check separately and decide from its outcome and passed. See running checks.
Should I poll or wait for the webhook?
Either works. The webhook is one notification with the full result set, sent once all checks of the session are terminal, and it can arrive again, so handle it idempotently by sessionId. Polling suits a flow where you hold the user on a screen until the answer is ready. Poll every 5 to 10 seconds until checksStatus is complete, and stop when the session lifetime that you set has passed: an abandoned session never reaches complete. The two shapes differ, see retrieving the result.
What does a match look like?
passed is false, items lists the matched records and totalCount gives their number. A match is a signal for review, not a verdict about the person.
What does the match threshold do?
Matching uses machine learning with transliteration. The threshold runs from 0 to 100, and the recommended starting value is 70. See catalog of checks.
Can I run a check again?
Yes. Use the re-run button on the Databases tab of the session card. A re-run is billed as a separate request.
Where do I see the results in the dashboard?
On the Databases tab of the session card, in the KYC section. See KYC and AML in the dashboard.
Where is the check price?
See the pricing page.
