Driver and renter checks

The job

A car-sharing, rental or delivery service hands over a vehicle on the strength of a driver's licence. The service needs to know that the licence is genuine, that the person who booked is the licence holder, and that the holder is old enough.

The flow

Licence. The renter photographs the driver's licence. The document is read, and the anti-fraud checks look for copies, edits and forgeries. See document verification.
Age. The date of birth is compared with the age window of your scenario. See age check.
Selfie and face match. The selfie is matched to the portrait on the licence. See face verification.
Liveness. The renter moves the face through two ovals, a challenge that helps detect a photo of the licence holder. See liveness.
Result. Your system reads the status and releases the booking, or holds it for a reviewer.

Scenario setup

In the scenario editor you choose the driver's licence as the accepted document, the countries you serve, and the age window.

Where it fits in the booking

Run the verification between the booking and the handover. The renter can complete it on a phone from the booking link, or start on a computer and continue on a phone through a QR code. See QR hand-off.

Which document does the flow use?

The driver's licence. A passport or national ID card can be accepted as well, depending on the scenario.

Can I set a minimum age for renters?

Yes. The age window is configurable from 16 to 100, and the date of birth is read from the document.

How do I know the licence holder is present?

The selfie is matched to the licence portrait, and active liveness confirms a live person.

What does the platform check?

It reads the licence and checks it for fraud, matches the selfie to the licence portrait and runs liveness.
